Welcome to the Department of Hospitality and Tourism
The hospitality discipline focuses mainly on the care of the human person, both in the tangible and intangible aspects of service. The hospitality and tourism industry is changing fast with far reaching implications for trainers and practitioners. Hoteliers are expected to give their guests quality experiences that are memorable. The rapid growth in tourism requires creative and innovative minds, business and management skills as well as technical and soft skills. Delivery of such experience is only possible with quality manpower.
The Department produces highly competent, technological and application oriented leaders, practitioners and managers for the sector. It also focuses on imparting knowledge and skill in the areas of Hospitality and Tourism and related areas.
Our programmes are designed to ensure that graduates are equipped with practical and intellectual skills relevant to the needs of the society. The department boasts of well equipped laboratories and training restaurants with highly competent technical staff.
The training offered in the department provides numerous career prospects to graduates including food and beverage management, the front of house management, room division management among others. Tourism Management graduates can become entrepreneurs, Tourism consultants, Tourism Planners, Tourism Marketers, Travel Agents; Tour Operators; Tourism trainers; Wildlife and attractions managers; Tourism researchers, language translators, event managers and destination managers.
